Susan's Summer Shakespeare
An Acting Workshop for Young Thespians

An Introduction
to Shakespeare

A Brief Course Description

Shakespeare was the Steven Spielberg of his time; however, Shakespeare's medium was not fixed in film; it was fluid.  Shakespeare wrote plays for living actors to perform before interactive audiences.

Since 2006, this annual summer workshop exposes youth to some of the most renowned pieces of the Bard's works in a traditional, interactive environment called theater in the round.  For Shakespeare's words do not live on the pages of dry books.  They need the actor's breath and the youth's step to come alive.

Over the three week course, each performer memorizes and dramatically develops a Shakespearean monologue or dialogue.  Each actor plays the lead in his own scene drawn from one of Shakespeare's plays.
